Week 11 -  Sea Animals


Essential Question: Why do authors write stories?

Week 14 -  The Big Race


Essential Question: What clues help you to figure out why events happen?

Word Wall Words: four, over, two, five, starts,            watch, into, and three

Spelling: came, make, brave, late, gave, shape, waves, chases

Oral Vocabulary: cactus, habitat, howl, mainly, search, and stems  (These are words that the students are working on meaning and use.)

Grammar: Verbs and Time 

Target skill: conclusions
Week 12 - How Leopard Got His Spots


Essential Question: Why is the order of story events important?

Word Wall Words: been, never, own, brown, off,           very, know, and out

Spelling: chin, chop, much, chip, rich, chick, match, pitch

Oral Vocabulary: adventure, frisky, shivered, spied, tumbled, and view   (These are words that the students are working on meaning and use.)

Grammar: Proper nouns

Week 15 -  Animal Groups

Essential Question: How are animals the same and different?

Word Wall Words: bird, fly, those, both, long, walk, eyes, and or

Spelling: time, like, kite, bike, white, drive, stripe, and mice

Oral Vocabulary: alert, directions, scale, sensitive, swivel, threatened   (These are words that the students are working on meaning and use.)

Grammar: The verb "be"  

Target skill: compare and contrast
Week 13 -  Seasons


Essential Question: What changes do the different seasons cause?

Word Wall Words: down, green, open, fall, grow,            yellow, goes, and new

Spelling: ship, shop, which, when, whip, fish, shell, graph

Oral Vocabulary: bouquet, burst, glows, plow, shrivel, and vines   (These are words that the students are working on meaning and use.)

Grammar: Subject and Verbs
